Joi Yao is an alternative comic artist from south China, currently based in Minneapolis, MN.

She quests her existence through either neo-realistic or surrealistic semi-autobiographical comics, usually with non-linear narrations, although she has trouble finding a sense of belong anywhere.

She is currently creating a bi-weekly road-comic series Φ3-心靈湯雞 that records her tourist life.
